Sometimes you get all the way through that first draft, celebrate your booty off — then don’t know what to do next!
This is an editing guide I put together a few months back and made available for free to anyone who wanted it, needed it, had the curiosity to look.
It gives you a place to start. It’s not everything, and it’s not the be-all end-all, but it’s something. It’s (hopefully) not overwhelming, and simple enough that you can start to tame that draft and clean it up without wanting to pull your hair out.
So let’s take a look.
Starting with the big picture and working my way down to the smaller line edits helps keep me on task — and keeps me from spending hours perfecting a paragraph that I end up cutting later.
What part of editing do you struggle with most? Did I cover it in this guide? Or is there something you’d like me to go over in a later post?
Happy Writing!
